ECDC publishes a protocol developed for the surveillance of Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) to address the lack of standardised surveillance of CDI in EU Member States. This updated protocol prescribes the methodology, and provides the data collection tools required to achieve the objectives of European surveillance of CDIs.

This technical document is an update of the ‘European Surveillance of Clostridium difficile infections. Surveillance protocol version 2.2’, published in November 2016.
