EVD-LabNet Webinar on tick-borne encephalitis in Europe
The webinar covered epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostics, and immune responses of tick-borne encephalitis in Europe. The webinar took place on 28 September 2022.
A new collection of tick-borne encephalitis virus strains from different countries of Europe was sequenced by EVD-LabNet network members in 2022 and the results of the analyses will be presented.
For diagnostics, the challenge of possible vaccine failure infections will also be discussed.
Four presentations were given:
- Olli Vapalahti, University of Helsinki: Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus and its molecular epidemiology in Europe;
- Lars Lindquist, Karolinska Insitute: Clinical aspects of TBE, with focus on the European subtype;
- Tatjana Avšič - Županc, University of Ljubljana: Laboratory findings and diagnostics of TBE;
- Åke Lundkvist, University of Uppsala: Immune responses in TBEV infection and vaccination;
