In 2015, 3 121 confirmed cases of invasive meningococcal disease were reported by 30 EU/EEA Member States to ECDC. The notification rate was 0.6 cases per 100 000 population. Age-specific rates were highest in infants (10.0 cases per 100 000 population), followed by 1–4-year-olds (2.8 cases per 100 000 population). The majority of cases were caused by serogroup B (61%). The notification rate of serogroup C was low in all countries regardless of whether meningococcal C conjugate (MCC) vaccine was included in national routine immunisation schedules.
