Protocol for point prevalence surveys of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in European long-term care facilities – version 4.0

The overall aim of the protocol is to support the implementation of a PPS of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial use in European long-term care facilities (LCTFs), to meet the abovementioned objectives for ECDC surveillance. The specific objectives of the PPSs in European LTCFs are to estimate the prevalence of HAIs and antimicrobial use in LTCFs in the EU/EEA and to measure structure and process indicators of infection prevention and control (IPC) in these LTCFs.
