14 Sep 2022 - In 2019, 35 039 confirmed syphilis cases were reported in 29 EU/EEA Member States, with a crude notification rate of 7.4 cases per 100 000 population.

24 Apr 2020 - ECDC’s annual surveillance reports provide a wealth of epidemiological data to support decision-making at the national level. They are mainly intended for public health professionals and policymakers involved in disease prevention and control programmes.

16 Jul 2018 - In 2016, 29 365 syphilis cases were reported in 28 EU/EEA Member States; the incidence rate for 2016 was 6.1 cases per 100 000 population.

20 Apr 2016 - In 2014, 24 541 syphilis cases were reported in 29 EU/EEA Member States (data were not available from Austria and Liechtenstein), an overall rate of 5.1 per 100 000 population. Reported syphilis rates were six times higher in men than in women.

18 Feb 2015 - ECDC publishes the sexually transmitted infections including HIV and blood-borne viruses chapter of the Annual Epidemiological Report 2014. It includes data from 2012 on the following diseases: chlamydia, gonorrhoea, hepatitis B virus infection, hepatitis C virus infection, HIV/AIDS and syphilis.
