Communication research on immunisation

The aim of this research project is to have a better understanding of vaccine hesitancy and safety concerns among healthcare vaccine providers and their patients in Europe and to explore the link and potential influence between the two groups.

The aim of this rapid literature review is to bring together knowledge and research related to vaccine hesitancy in EU /EEA countries into a format that is easy to understand and follow.

In recent years, substantial progress had been made towards eliminating measles, mumps and rubella in Europe. Measles vaccine coverage is on the rise and measles cases decreasing in many countries. However, there have still been several large outbreaks of measles, mumps and rubella reported in European countries.

This literature review examines the published evidence on the effectiveness of European promotional communications for national immunisation schedule vaccinations.

The meeting report covers health communication strategies that could be undertaken to better promote influenza prevention measures and the healthcare professionals’ role in the uptake of seasonal influenza vaccination.
